Kitchen islands are beautiful in walnut. This one was installed 6 years ago with the base cabinets using a 7 foot wide by 9 foot long single slab of claro walnut. We use a durable waterproof finish from epoxy.

This table sells for $350. The top is made from four cutouts the shape of South Dakota from reclaimed barn lumber that are reseamed together to make a nice coffee table shape. The legs are hairpin legs, but can also be done in rebar.
